Tell us a little about your business. – I like to win and I like to help others find ways to win, too. At Leadership Harbor (LeaderShipHarbor.com), we come alongside individuals and teams who are willing to invest in growth and development. We help leaders strengthen themselves, elevate their teams, and build heathier, more effective organizations.
How did you get started in the business? – I spent 33 years working for a major rubber manufacturer, where I grew professionally and invested deeply in in my personal development. That commitment led to becoming a Lay Pastor and joining Maxwell Leadership. Over time, I was promoted to Chief Chemist and gained a seat at the leadership table, where leadership development became part of my role alongside my technical work. Eventually, I was asked to step away from leadership and focus on engineering. That moment reinforced a key belief: no one likes to be managed, but people don’t mind being led. It was time to lead myself.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – My biggest professional challenge has been investing in myself. I’m naturally more of a saver than a spender, so committing financially to personal growth has always required a step of faith. Joining Maxwell Leadership was a major investment, but an even bigger stretch came when John Maxwell offered access to a group of financial experts for $10,000 over a year. I wrestled with the decision, but with Kris’s encouragement, I committed. It reinforced a key lesson: investing in the right relationships and guidance accelerates growth and success.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Joining Maxwell Leadership.

Our other daughter, Mandy Peterson, is owner of the graphic design company, Sevn Spero Creations.
