Meet Chris Hansen, the youth/young adults coach at Leadership Harbor.

Tell us a little about your business. – The team at Leadership Harbor helps people develop the skills to be more relational and influential in their personal, business, and faith lives. Our team brings a variety of experiences to help you unlock your true potential, including understanding your personality “wiring”, values, and experiences. We offer individual, group, and business coaching, workshops, and more for youth and adults. Leadership Harbor provides a variety of services, ranging from Parenting and Family to Budgeting and Financial Coaching to Growing With Purpose. We help you train in a safe environment – the harbor – on your way to becoming all you were meant to be.

How did you get started in the business? – My journey to the Leadership Harbor team began over 20 years ago when I met our Founders Brian and Kris Peterson. They saw something in me that fit a need for us to serve and add value in our community, mainly youth and young adults. I’ve been privileged to serve with this amazing team while developing our resources to best serve the youngest leaders among us.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – My biggest challenge as a leadership coach has been overcoming the knowledge barrier of what a leadership coach is. Helping youth, parents, and others understand the impact coaching can have at unlocking an individual’s potential is often difficult. It becomes rewarding when witnessing someone step into living their best life by investing in their growth and future.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I’ve been most excited about the programs we’ve created to best serve youth and their families. From creating Remix to equip youth in grades 3-5, to empowering middle and high school youth through a curated buffet of leadership development called Crew Club. To tell a youth they are a leader today, instead of sending the message they will one day be a leader, is a game changer. One of my biggest goals is to help youth understand who they are and what they want to do with it as leaders today.

Tell us a little about your family. – My wife Stephanie and I have been married for 15 years and are blessed with our two amazing kids.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On my day off, I enjoy spending time with some of the people who most inspire me, my family. From spending time together at home to creating memories on trips, if it’s with them I’m happy.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – One of my favorite quotes is from my friend and mentor John C. Maxwell. He says, “The secret to your success is determined by your daily agenda.” The truth within this is that where we invest our time on a daily basis will determine our story. One of the greatest ways we can each lead ourselves is to be intentional with our time. Success and significance will follow when we make this a priority.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – When it comes to nonprofits, I’m currently involved with the Leadership Harbor Foundation. A goal to establish has recently come to fruition. The Foundation’s purpose is currently three-fold: to provide suicide and bullying prevention training, creating scholarships for youth to received Leadership Training, and an avenue for us to serve Veterans and their families.
