After graduating from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Interior Design, Lisa Giesbrecht worked as a design assistant and gradually built up her own clientele.  She was approached with the opportunity to help start a new and innovative design studio in Lincoln and was excited for the challenge that Elite Kitchens & Flooring offered.  Elite is an interior design studio focused on cabinetry and interior surfaces.  They are currently expanding and remodeling their two-year-old showroom to offer more selection in flooring and showcase some their different cabinet lines.

Tell us a little about your family.
I grew up and went to school here in Lincoln.  I met my husband, Daniel, in college and have been married for 12 years.  We have two sons; our 7-year old, Toby, is excited about school, robots, and bikes. Our younger son, Liam, 3, is all boy and into anything with wheels.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Becoming a parent changes not only how you live, but every decision that you make has a new significance.  You are no longer just responsible for yourself-it’s a pretty weighty role.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I love spending my time away from work with my boys. It is fun to see the world from their perspective and experience childhood with them.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
We have regular dance parties at our house; my kiddos really like to bust a move.

What are you the most proud of?
Raising my boys to be the men they will become is the greatest and hardest part of my life.  When you see your child make a good decision, be respectful and kind, or think of others first, you know you must be doing something right.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
My Dad always told us growing up that something isn’t worth doing if you’re not going to do it right.  I try to “do it right” everyday.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
I have visited 33 states and I would like to make it to them all someday.

How would your friends describe you?
I think most of them would say that I’m a pretty big dork; and then add that I can be counted on, I’m generous and I’m fun.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I love to cook and eat! If I were to have taken a different career path, I’m sure food would be involved.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I would like to have a green thumb. Gardening is something that I wish I were better at or knew more about.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
It’s hard to list a favorite; right now I am reading The Poisonwood Bible, and Love Wins; and I’m reading the BoxCar Children to my boys.

What is your favorite movie?
Hands down,The Breakfast Club

What is your favorite TV show?
I watch American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance; it’s inspiring to see such talent.  It’s something we can all watch as a family, too

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
We love Lazlos and Braeda

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Michael Jackson; it’d have to be dinner and dancing, though.
