Meet Marcia Roberts, SPHR, the business manager and wellness coach at Aceso Total Healthcare.

Tell us a little about your business. – Aceso Total Healthcare (www.AcesoTotalHealth.com) is a modern approach to medicine. We combine natural and traditional therapies to help our members achieve total health. Under the direction of a medical physician, we focus on creating a personalized, proactive, and evidence-based approach to medicine that allows you to protect and preserve your health. We offer integrative healthcare services, including hormone replacement therapy, acupuncture, medical and sports massage, movement therapy, yoga, and health coaching.

How did you get started in the business? – My husband, Dr. Todd Roberts MD, and I noticed an opportunity to provide a new health care option to the Lincoln community and across the country. We decided to pull our skillsets together and created Aceso Total Healthcare. With his medical expertise and my business experience, we make a great team! We have a lot of fun at work and are very proud to provide a suite of affordable and proactive health care services to our clients.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Bridging the gap between management and employees or between healthcare workers and clients. Simply put, there is nothing more rewarding than helping others achieve their career and health goals.

Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I met while attending UNL. Thirty-five years later, we are still loving life together. We are very career-oriented. Todd is an emergency physician at Bryan East and West, and at Beatrice Hospital. He is also a certified Medical Acupuncturist. I built a career through Corporate America in the field of human resources and business management. We have a beautiful and “very” protective 9-year-old German Shepherd. Our careers gave us the opportunity to live in many different states across the country. We finally found our way back to Nebraska which we have always called home.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Anything associated with travel and the outdoors—sailing, scuba diving, hiking, biking, mountain climbing, kayaking, fishing, walking the dog, etc.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I own a martial arts school called Aikido of Nebraska. This is a Japanese martial art focused on self-defense and character building. I’m a 3rd degree black belt and have the privilege to head up the youth program. Teaching personal safety, awareness, discipline, respect, and the importance of community service is very rewarding. Also, I hiked through snow on the equator. In other words, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and keep climbing every day to reach my goals.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “To injure an opponent is to injure yourself. To control aggression without inflicting injury is the art of peace.” – Morihei Ueshiba

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Adventurous.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Friendship Home. I’ve seen the powerful changes that this organization has provided to women and children within our community.

What is your favorite movie? – Second Hand Lions. This movie captures the power of living life to its fullest.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My Dad. He is a husband, friend, counselor, and minister, all wrapped up in one. That’s rather famous in my book!
