Tell us a little about your family. – My family and I recently moved from Montana back to Nebraska. We lived in Montana with our 3 year old son and enjoyed the mountains and outdoor sports. We recently welcomed our little girl July 2025 and decided to move closer to family so our kids can enjoy their grandparents, cousins, etc.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – My family and I love to be outdoors when we can. Living in Montana for 8 years, we enjoyed hiking, kayaking, alpine and cross-country skiing. Now living in Nebraska, our outdoor activities will change a bit but we hope to find new hiking trails and camping spots that our whole family can enjoy.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I am a certified scuba diver. When I was younger, I wanted to be a marine biologist so I pursued activities in that professional lane. Open water dives that I have completed include Fiji, Great Barrier Reef, and even sand pits in York, Nebraska. I also have some continuing education under my belt that includes underwater photography.
Who inspires you? – I get inspired by people daily. One thing I like about my job is that I get to spend more time with my patients. In that time, I learn a lot about their lives, past adventures, and future endeavors. Humans are resilient and many find amazing ways to preserve and succeed in the face of adversity. I find this incredibly inspiring and it always puts my own challenges in perspective.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded” by Ralph Waldo Emmerson. I think often, as a health care provider, we put a lot on our shoulders and feel like perfection is what success is. I often think of this quote to help me enjoy those little successes with my job or personal life.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To control time. How wonderful it could be to never run out of time in the day, be able to avoid embarrassing situations, and get more sleep if I need it.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I can play the piano, clarinet, violin and bass guitar. I still play piano on occasion and hopefully will teach my kids one day.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – In undergraduate school, I volunteered at Ted E. Bear Hollow in Omaha.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune was one of the last books I read. Such a creative and wonderfully written book. For me it was a feel good book.
What is your favorite movie? – In the spirit of the holidays my favorite Christmas movie is Scrooged. Every time I watch it I catch another witty line that a character said under their breath that makes me laugh.
