Meet Bethany A. Allen, an Attorney at McGill Law, PC, LLO (www.mcgilllawyers.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – McGill Law, PC, LLO is focused on respectful, empowered divorces and adoptions. Every client is treated with dignity and respect and is guaranteed effective representation. Our expertise and integrity have earned us a reputation as one of the best family law firms in Iowa and Nebraska.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I consider each client I help to be my most important achievement. There is nothing better than being able to represent someone during a difficult time.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have a husband, six chickens and two cats.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On a day off, I love to relax, spend time with friends and family and read a good book.

Who inspires you? – An individual who has truly left an impression me is Prince. As he once sung in “Let’s Go Crazy,” ‘Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today. To get through this thing called life.’ He helped his fans navigate their way through ‘this thing called life’ with his music. Always innovative, forever pushing boundaries and seeking to get to the very heart of his fans with his work.

I aspire to similarly aid our clients in navigating ‘this thing called life,’ even when it’s hard with compassionate and supportive legal representation.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “There are many paths up the mountain.” This serves as a valuable recall that multiple approaches exist to accomplish a goal.

Likewise, various legal avenues are available for addressing family law issues, including collaborative law, collaborative mediation, mediation and litigation. Irrespective of the most suitable choice for our client and their family, our constant commitment lies in supporting our clients through their cases with empathy, honesty and courtesy. Optimal outcomes materialize when the future and welfare of a family remain the most important consideration.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash. It’s a great reminder that you can do anything one step at a time.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? – Telepathy. One reason would be that it would enable me to directly understand my clients’ thoughts and emotions, helping me better comprehend their perspectives, needs and concerns. This deep level of insight could lead to more effective legal representation tailored to each unique situation.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish I could sing! I have always admired those with beautiful singing voices, but sadly I do not have that talent.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Ian Reid.

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Honest Abe’s! They have excellent food and a relaxed vibe. It is the perfect place to have a casual meal.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – I would love to have dinner with Gael Garcia Marquez, the author of One Hundred Years of Solitude.
