Caitlyn Clary is an Associate Attorney at McGill Law (mcgilllawyers.com).

Tell us a little about your business. – McGill Law stands out not only for its focus on serving women, but also for its bold, trailblazing leadership. In an industry long dominated by men, McGill Law is redefining the legal landscape—proving that women are not only integral to the profession, but are powerful leaders shaping its future.

How did you get started in the business? – Upon Graduation from Creighton School of Law I sought work at a small multi-practice firm and was there for about a year and half where I mostly worked with those most in need as a Guardian ad Litem for minor children when their families have an open CPS case. I then transitioned to McGill Law to continue focusing of helping families and women in need of an advocate in their corner during an understandably stressful and confusing time in their lives.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The passing of my grandfather. We were extremely close, and his passing reminded me to live in the present and tell those around you that you care for them whenever you have the chance to. I looked up to him as a mentor as he was always a presence for my family even across several state lines. While his passing was not sudden as he was battling metastatic cancer his health care team was also extremely understanding and supportive in me allowing him to make his own decisions while he still could. He reminded me to trust yourself no matter the situation, even when you know you are not at your best because you are the person who know yourself best; that it is okay to ask other for help but at the end of the day all decisions about your life are yours to make.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy getting out and in nature by going to a park or the Lincoln Children’s zoo with my family. If it is a stay inside type of day I enjoy paper crafting like making cards to send to family for holidays, birthdays, and special events.

Who inspires you? – My mother is my inspiration. She has always inspired me to do what I want without the fear of failure. She has thrived in her career as a healthcare professional and continues to inspire and teach those around her; helping her community grow and be prepared in a worst cases scenario.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Faith over Fear; it was the saying at my cheer gym growing up and always reminded me that my belief in myself stronger than any fear of failure or disappointment.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Determined

Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to speak to animals.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – BraveBe and Project Harmony in Douglas County; both are child advocacy centers focused on trauma informed responses to children that are in need of help and when they have experienced abuse.

What is your favorite movie? – Nightmare before Christmas

What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Hacienda Real
