Tell us a little about your business. – Willet Construction specializes in residential remodeling. We are a full service remodeler because we do all types of projects on an existing property. We have a showroom and in-house designers for both interior and exterior projects to make the project run very smooth from start to finish.
How did you get started in the business? – While in high school, my dad hired a couple carpenters to build a farm shed and they allowed us to work with them. After the project they offered me a job during the summer, and I was hooked after that.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Overcoming my own fears of failure. Now I understand that to succeed, learning from your failures is part of the process.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Starting Willet Construction together with my wife Marcia in 1995. 30 Years being in business!
Tell us a little about your family. – I have been married to Marcia for 45 years. We have 3 grown children: Brian, Melissa, and Jason. 9 grandchildren that we love.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Accepting Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Fishing with grandkids.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I can play guitar.
Who inspires you? – Self motivated people.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Don’t worry about pleasing man, worry about pleasing God.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Faithful.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – People say I have a voice that would be perfect for radio.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Coaching sports.
What is your favorite local Lincoln restaurant? – Dairy Queen Ice Cream
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – My dad who died in 2001 to tell him how grateful I am on how he raised me.
