Star City Six: Travis Schneider

48 Bowl Inc. is the parent company that runs two popular local bowling centers, Hollywood Bowl and Parkway Lanes. Travis Schneider is the assistant general manager of Hollywood Bowl (48bowl.com) .

How did you get started in the business? – It started as a summer job when I was16 years old to pay for my first car, and I’ve been here ever since.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Learning to be a people person. At first I was a very shy person and now I can talk to anyone.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Taking on more responsibilities and being promoted to my current position with the company.

Tell us a little about your family. – I’m married to my wife Sarah who I’ve been with for 15 years and we have an amazing 3 year old son named Owen.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The day my son was born. To love someone the moment you see them was and is such an amazing thing. My life changed forever that day.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – We try to get as much family time in as possible. Working nights makes that hard but when we do have the opportunity to spend time together we make the best of it. We especially enjoy trips to the zoo and going to the races, but sometimes it’s just nice to hang out together wherever that may be.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – Most people don’t know that I’m a huge racing fan and I enjoy collecting vintage racing stuff. Also my wife says that I’m the funniest person she knows!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – People will respect you if you show respect to them.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Funny. I like to make people laugh.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins, which is best known for being a hit song on the soundtrack of Top Gun.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – The ability to be invisible.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Driving a race car.

Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish I could sing.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – To race professionally.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – 48 Bowl hosts the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon every year and we also do a canned food drive for the local food bank the week of Thanksgiving.

What is your favorite movie? – Days of Thunder.

What is your favorite TV show? – Grey’s Anatomy.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Tico’s, mainly because of their sizzling fajitas.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Dale Earnhardt.
