Lincoln Specialty Care Works to Promote Lincoln’s Medical Community

Communities and states around the country are beginning to recognize health care as one of the primary economic drivers of their economies. Lincoln was at the forefront of that realization and our medical community has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to continue efforts to expand those opportunities in the capital city.

Lincoln’s Specialty Care (LSC) was created by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce in 1988. LSC is a cooperative effort of the Chamber and the Lincoln medical community to promote Lincoln’s wide array of medical resources to greater Nebraska and bordering areas of surrounding states. The goal of LSC is to establish Lincoln as the preferred referral center for specialized healthcare. Lincoln’s Specialty Care obtains funding through Lincoln hospitals, health care facilities and participating physician specialists.

To reach our goal we provide resources that facilitate those referrals. Each year, we print over 10,000 copies of a directory that highlights medical facilities and professionals and distribute them throughout Nebraska and northern Kansas. This is a joint directory between Lincoln’s Specialty Care and the Lancaster County Medical Society. The website, www.LincolnDocs.com, has been completely updated with the 2012 physician photos and their contact information and it’s searchable by last name or specialty. The website houses news articles and videos featuring the latest medical procedures, technologies and innovations from partner physicians and hospitals.

You can stay up to date with Lincoln medical news by signing up for our e-newsletter on the front page of the website. New for 2012 we’ve started a social media presence on Facebook, www.facebook.com/LincolnMedicalNews;  Twitter, www.twitter.com/lnkmedicalnews;  and a new YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/LincolnMedicalNews; please connect with us there.

The ultimate goal of Specialty Care is to increase the number of people that visit Lincoln for health care services. That will help our community by increasing jobs in the medical industry and the influx of visitors will help expand our sales tax base and create business for our local retailers and restaurants. We look forward to continuing this partnership as we move our community forward.
