The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking proposals for a mixed-use development to enhance a UNL parking structure planned for a site at 18th and R streets. The request seeks proposals that include residential and possible retail or commercial use to create development complementary to the campus.  Proposals are due from private developers July 31, with the facility needing to be completed Aug. 1, 2014.

This proposal would be unique on campus, with dedicated university parking, private residences and commercial space. Maximum height of the building would be 130 feet; the university requires 1,250 parking spaces for student, faculty and staff use.
The developer also will be responsible for assessing the appropriate housing market for the building. The residences, under the proposal, will not be university-approved student housing.

If an acceptable proposal is received, it would go to the Board of Regents for approval at the September board meeting. The program statement for the parking garage has already been approved.
