4th Annual Community Sock Drive Collects 8,000 Pairs for People’s City Mission

The REALTORS® Association of Lincoln (www.lincolnrealtors.com) presented Pastor Tom Barber of the People’s City Mission with their annual sock drive contribution during an assembly at North Star High School on February 29th.

The Sock Drive effort, in its fourth year, is designed to help collect these much-needed items of clothing for people in the Lincoln community served by the People’s City Mission.  People’s City Mission (www.peoplescitymission.org) is the city’s largest rescue mission providing food, shelter and other assistance to the homeless and poor in Lincoln.

The students in Mrs. Elizabeth Carranza-Rodriguez’s social studies classes partnered their service learning project with the REALTORS® Association’s annual sock drive. After last year’s success of 4,000 pairs of socks donated, the students decided to double their goal. Michelle Siedel at Pound Middle School also coordinated a Sock Drive at their school.

2016 Sock Drive Partners include BHHS Ambassador Real Estate, Home Real Estate (Cotner, North, Pine Lake and Pioneer Greens offices), Keller Williams, Lincoln First Realty – Williamsburg Office, NAI FMA Realty, Nebraska Title, New Traditions Home & Realty, NLTA, Woods Bros.
