Woods Charitable Fund Elects New Board Member, Officers

Woods Charitable Fund, Inc. (www.woodscharitable.org), a private grant-making foundation, announces the election of officers and a new member to its Board of Directors. Ed Wimes was elected to the Board during the Fund’s November board meeting.

Wimes is owner of E&S Consulting, which provides leadership coaching, human resources management, diversity/inclusion strategies and more to public and private firms and institutions. Before retiring in 2015 to start his consulting business, Wimes served as Special Assistant to the President of the University of Nebraska and for 14 years as the University’s Assistant Vice President/Director of Human Resources. A lifelong resident of Lincoln and retired Army Officer, Wimes has donated his time to the community in numerous capacities including service on nonprofit boards for the Clyde Malone Community Center, the Community Health Endowment, the NAACP and CASA for Lancaster County. He also helped co-found Project ALL through Leadership Lincoln, which works to train new leaders and increase diversity in community decision-making. Wimes has been recognized as the Bud Cuca Servant Leader of the Year, with the Leola Bullock Community Service Award and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award. He fills the vacated seat of Orville Jones III, who served on the Woods board from 2011-2016 and was Board Vice Chair from 2015-16.

Woods Charitable Fund also elected officers at its November meeting. Those elected were Donna W. Woods, Chair; Carl Eskridge, Vice Chair; Hank Woods, Treasurer; Michael J. Tavlin, Assistant Treasurer; and Tom Woods, President and Board Secretary. Nelle Woods Jamison, Ernie Castillo and Candice Howell are continuing members of the Board.

Woods Charitable Fund makes grants twice a year to tax-exempt organizations seeking funding for Lincoln-focused programs in the areas of Human Services, Civic & Community, Education and Arts & Culture, and in 2017 will award funding through a new Breakthrough Initiative Grant program.
