Rick Hamik was at a turning point in his life when he saw an ad for a home inspection franchise.  With his construction background, he thought this would be a good fit to move forward and started HomeBiz Inspection Team and REH Restorations.

The HomeBiz Inspection Team performs whole house inspections and radon measurements, mostly for real estate transactions. HomeBiz is unique in the fact that they use highly trained heating, ventilation and air conditioning technicians with every inspection.  REH Restorations is licensed by the State of Nebraska to install radon mitigation systems.

Tell us a little about your family.
I grew up in a large family, while my wife, MB, is from a small family. That has resulted in some interesting contrasts. We have a beautiful daughter, Mikkel, who is currently a graduate student at the University of Exeter, in the UK. Our home has almost always included a cat, mostly Siamese. “Tonks” is our current feline family member.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
There were two turning points in my life. One is when I married my wife 36 years ago and two, the birth of our wonderful daughter.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Patio time with my family, grilling and smoking meats, vegetables and anything else I can fit into the smoker. I also enjoy playing golf.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
That I spent two years in the Seminary.

What are you the most proud of?
My family and our businesses.

My father once told me that if you do not learn something new every day, you are not paying attention.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
To spend more leisure time with my wife and family (so I can play more golf).

How would your friends describe you?
I think they would describe me as friendly, fun loving, steady and dependable.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
I was a brick mason for over 35 years, a trade that I learned from my father. Creating masonry artistry is something that I now rarely do.
