Legacy Retirement Communities and KFOR Announce 2022 Legacy Award Winners

Legacy Retirement Communities (www.LegacyRetirement.com) and KFOR have partnered together to honor individuals with the 2022 Legacy Awards, and are pleased to announce that this year’s recipients are Annette Kurth, Bruce Trautwein, and Leah Arington.

Annette is involved with People’s City Mission, Teammates, and FoodNet through Zion church. Annette has also taught English as a second language through Lincoln Literacy. She has divided her $2,500 Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Award to go to People’s City Mission, the Teammates Mentoring Program, and Lincoln Literacy.

Bruce Trautwein is a Marine veteran who spearheaded the Lincoln Buddy Check for Veterans and has been the key fundraiser and organizer of the yearly Veterans Freedom Music Festival. Bruce also coordinates the monthly VA Coffeehaus event, where Quilts of Valor are presented to deserving veterans. Bruce has elected to pay forward his $2,500 Jerry Joyce Living Legacy Award to the VFW Foundation.

Leah Arington, director of the local nonprofit Theatre Arts for Kids (TAFK), helps instill a strong work ethic, professionalism, inclusiveness, and camaraderie in the young people who are part of TAFK. She has been dedicated to finding unique ways for kids to feel connected and cared about during the pandemic. She will pay forward her $1,000 Caring Heart Award to help with the TAFK outreach.
