Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln (lincolnhabitat.org) presented the first-ever LOTUS Award to Renee Sobotka, Founder & CEO of True North Technologies and dedicated Habitat board member, during the 2025 Women Build Finale Celebration.

The LOTUS Award honors outstanding leadership, teamwork and community impact in the Women Build initiative. Inspired by the lotus flower’s symbolism of resilience and renewal, the award recognizes an individual or team that rises to challenges and creates lasting beauty through their commitment to building homes and hope.

“It’s my honor to present the 1st Annual LOTUS Award to Renee Sobotka,” said Shay Homeier, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln. “Renee is not only a dedicated board member but a true community leader whose creativity, compassion, and drive have strengthened Habitat’s mission in Lincoln and beyond.”

As team captain of the True North Women Build team, Sobotka inspired others through action and advocacy—raising funds, recruiting volunteers, and amplifying Habitat’s story through her marketing expertise. In total, Sobotka earned over 7,700 points, the highest among all participating teams.

“Renee’s heart for service and her belief in Habitat’s mission make her a shining example of what Women Build is all about,” said Homeier. “Like the lotus, she embodies strength, growth, and grace through every challenge.”

The 2025 Women Build initiative united hundreds of volunteers, localbusinesses, and sponsors to support affordable housing in Lincoln. The LOTUS Award will continue annually to honor those who exemplify the power of teamwork and compassion in action.
